Nylon Poha Chevda
An all time favorite & delicious Snack made healthier by reducing oil content compared to traditional recipe….So now you can enjoy it ANY-TIME without worrying about too much of oil.
250 gms nylon poha (rice flakes)
1 small cup Peanuts (raw)
¾ cup daria dal (split gram)
1 big cup dry coconut sliced medium long
1 big cup derided potato chips (thin and long)
7-8 green chillies – chopped
15-17 curry leaves
½ small cup sugar
3-4 tps turmeric powder
1 tps red chilli powder (optional)
Salt to taste
Oil for deep-frying approx 1 ½ cup
Total Cooking Time: 20-30 mins
Sieve poha and roast them on first medium and then on low flame for 5-7 mins or till turns crisp but should not change colour, Stir occasionally to roast poha evenly….
When roasted keep poha aside
Now heat the oil for frying, in the mean while sprinkle salt, turmeric powder, sugar and red chilli powder (optional) on the roasted poha
When oil is hot enough, deep fry till crisp and sprinkle on the poha in following order
Green chillies + curry leaves
Dried potato chips
Daria dal (split gram)
Tip 1: One can reduce the oil content by properly draining the extra oil before adding above items on to the poha
Now mix all ingredients well while still hot and let it cool.
Poha Chevda is ready..Store in air-tight container..Serve as and when desired…
Tips 2: For special occasions or during festivals one may add lightly fried dry-fruits like cashew, raisins and almonds to make it a “ROYAL Chevda”….
