Rajwadi Jeera Aloo By Chef Jigss


We all are very much familiar with “JEERA ALOO” a very simple yet one of the most popular dishes. I have tried to give a slight twist and make is more interesting  because of the ingredients used in this recipe which makes it more RICH, MILDLY TANGY & SPICY, hence  I call it  “ RAJWADI JEERA ALOO”…..




  • 500 gms Potatoes (boiled and skin peeled) chopped
  • 3-4 tbps Ghee
  • 3-4 green chillies chopped
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • Pinch of asafoetida
  • ¼ – ½ tomato (optional)
  • 1 tps cumin seeds
  • 1 tps sesame seeds
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic (peeled) (optional)
  • Small pcs of ginger (optional)
  • ½ tps red chilly powder
  • ½ tps turmeric powder
  • ½ tps coriander powder(optional)
  • Pinch of sugar
  • 2-3 tps chopped cashews
  • 2-3 tps raisins
  • 2-3 tps lemon juice
  • Chopped fresh coriander leaves 3-4 tbps
Preparation Time : 10 Mins
Cooking Time 6-8 Mins
Serves : 4



Heat ghee in a pan and….




Add the cumin seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves, green chillies, garlic cloves,tomato and asafoetida and stir fry for a few seconds.



Now, add the potatoes, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder (optional), sugar, chopped fresh coriander and salt to it, mix well and cook for 2-3 mins.



Take it off the flame, add lime juice and mix well.


Garnish with fresh coriander leaves, cashews and serve hot.

Goes well with Indian Breads ie. rotis, parathas, etc..
You may go ahead and try in your kitchen
